We were contacted by Belga films and the Executive Producer with the request to Shoot on a Ship, helping to find and deliver a ship in the ARA region with the closing shooting schedule..
Finding a ship to shoot onboard when prices were already up 70% ++ over global market and the shipping industry even extremely more now due to the Ukraine war and worldwide demands for goods and transport.
The shooting; 2 days, cast and crew 50 plus 50 extras On a Ship is quite a challenge. With a special stunt scene in mind this to escape from the deck gave us some extra < preliminary consultation > (vooroverleg) with the authorities and heads of special teams like… coordination centre (division NAT) Port service (Havendienst, HBR, Duty Officer HCC, Port of Rotterdam, Water Police, KRVE, Province and RWS. Shooting in a port or harbour is ISPS location and needs to follow all guidelines at all times.
Working Safe strict orders to the crew & cast is necessary at all times. These rules are set by the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) in the International Ship and Port Facility (ISPS) Code.
In order to work fast in a time is money and creative process when shooting we organised a gangway from pier/dock and with a crane on deck for loading and unloading all equipment and gear for bringing down to the engine room, wardrobe, make up, food and drinks for catering to the tweendeck for the next two days of shooting.
